Karen is a VSO (Voluntary Service Overseas) volunteer from Scotland. She arrived in Choibalsan on Friday 28th March and will stay until 1st July. She is doing a teacher training course for English teachers from 7th April until 30th May. There are three groups of teachers, each with about 8 teachers in each group. The teachers are from all the schools in Choibalsan. There will be 16 sessions in total, with topics including 'Writing, Speaking, Lesson Planning, Group work, practical activities for the classroom' and many more.
Karen will also help teachers with their lessons, working together with the teachers on lesson planning, speaking in class and making lessons more learner-centred.
She will help orgnise the 'Let's Speak English' competition for 8th grade students on 2nd May at School 1.
In June, Karen will do a short English course for the Methodologists at the Education Board.
She wants to see the eclipse of the sun in Western Mongolia on 1st August in Bayan-Ulgii.
